Call for Poems — “Rainstorm”

𝐂𝐀𝐋𝐋 𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐏𝐎𝐄𝐌𝐒—聲韻詩刊 Voice & Verse Poetry Magazine, a Hong Kong-based bilingual (Chinese and English) print publication, invites poets and translators worldwide to submit original English-language poems and poems newly translated into English for our upcoming issue themed 𝗥𝗔𝗜𝗡𝗦𝗧𝗢𝗥𝗠—open to imaginative interpretation. We are very keen to receive work from a wide range of geographical and cultural backgrounds.

𝗖𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲: Friday 5 September 2025. Early submissions are preferred, as we may close the submission window once we have received a sufficient number of quality works.​

𝗘𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆: Previously unpublished poems written in English or newly translated into English.​

𝗦𝘂𝗯𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗟𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘁: Up to two poems per poet/translator.​

𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁: Please send your poems as Word documents (no PDFs).​

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗦𝘂𝗯𝗺𝗶𝘁: Email your submissions to swpoetry@gmail.com with the subject line “VV: Rainstorm: [Your Initials]”.​ Emails without proper salutation will not be read. Editor of the section: Tammy Lai-Ming Ho.

Poets and translators whose work is accepted will be notified. If you do not receive a response within 𝐎𝐍𝐄 𝐖𝐄𝐄𝐊, please consider your submission unsuccessful. You are welcome to submit additional work once this period has passed.

𝑉𝑜𝑖𝑐𝑒 & 𝑉𝑒𝑟𝑠𝑒 𝑃𝑜𝑒𝑡𝑟𝑦 𝑀𝑎𝑔𝑎𝑧𝑖𝑛𝑒 is distributed by The Chinese University of Hong Kong Press (香港中文大學出版社)and has previously featured English-language sections on themes such as “Food”, “Ecopoetry”, “Estrangement”, “Emergency”, “Bullet”, “Virus”, “Masks”, “Home”, “Distance”, “Other”, “Mirror”, “Boar”, “Wall”, “Cruel Spring”, “Departures”, “Beginnings”, “Neighbourhood”, “Intervention”, “Crossings”, “Outsiders”, “Whale”, “Peace”, “Dystopia”, “Lying Flat”, “Involution”, “Grown-up Baby”, and most recently, “Reparation”.
