NOTE: This is a *new* call for poems for Issue 69 of Voice & Verse Poetry Magazine 聲韻詩刊.

What we call the beginning is often the end
And to make and end is to make a beginning.

In Issue 69 of Voice & Verse Poetry Magazine, we will publish an English-language section on “Beginnings”. We encourage poets from all over the world to submit their poetry and contemplate the idea of “beginnings” as broadly as possible.

Previously unpublished poems written in English or newly translated into English on “Beginnings” can be sent to swpoetry@gmail.com before Wednesday 30 November 2022 with the subject line “VV: Beginnings: [your initials]” for consideration. Each poet can submit up to two poems (please do not send us PDFs). Editor of the section: Tammy Lai-Ming Ho.

Only poets whose work is accepted will be notified. If you do not get a response within two weeks, please assume that your work has not been selected for publication.

Voice & Verse Poetry Magazine 聲韻詩刊 is a Hong Kong-based print bilingual (Chinese and English) poetry publication distributed by The Chinese University of Hong Kong Press. We have previously published English-language sections on, among other topics, “Food”, “Ecopoetry”, “Estrangement”, “Emergency”, “Bullet”, “Virus”, “Masks”, “Home”, “Distance”, “Other”, “Mirror”, “Boar”, “Wall”, “Curel Spring”, and most recently, “Departures”.

Our motto: “From Hong Kong to the World.”
